Moog has integrated slip rings into pod propulsion systems, supporting electrification needs while delivering increased efficiency and game changing maneuverability when compared to traditional propulsion solutions. In fully electric pods, rotary transmission systems provide connection between the ship and the free turning pod to power the main propulsion motors and transmit signals. The systems also transfer network data and mediums such as lubrication, while pumping away pod leakage.
By optimizing the drive power, they help to reduce fuel consumption, which in turn leads to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, the maneuvering process in confined spaces is facilitated and the efficiency of port operations is improved.
Special high-power current transmissions that are particularly resistant to vibrations and shocks are used in maritime applications, as well as rotary unions from Moog and signal slip rings that can be installed in a particularly space-saving manner. Condition monitoring slip rings for azimuth thrusters are also part of our wide-ranging portfolio for the shipping industry.
Our products are certified (IACS sub-associations). It is always a challenge to implement complex projects in the shortest possible time. Here we rely on our many years of experience and dedicated project management that leaves nothing to chance. Our strong customer focus is reflected in our trained service personnel. We can carry out maintenance work directly on the ship. We have special testing technology at our disposal and draw on a large product portfolio from Moog plants and subsidiaries around the world, where all subcomponents are also manufactured within the Group.
